Oppo Reno7 Lite 5G Review: A Gorgeous Mid-Ranger With Some Surprising Quirks

Introduction
Oppo’s Reno series is famous for confusing names, and the Reno7 lineup is no exception. The phone we’re reviewing today is the Oppo Reno7 Lite 5G — but depending on where you live, it could also be called the Reno7 Z 5G (Asia), the Oppo F21 Pro 5G (India), or even launch in Europe as the Reno8 Lite.

If that wasn’t messy enough, there’s also an Oppo Reno7 (aka F21 Pro 4G), which oddly has weaker specs despite not carrying the “Lite” tag. And then there’s the Reno7 5G, which swaps Snapdragon for MediaTek and is exclusive to India. Confused? Don’t worry — we were too.

Naming aside, the Reno7 Lite 5G is a stunning smartphone. Our review unit in the rainbow “oil-slick” finish changes color depending on lighting, and it looks seriously premium.

Design and Build

The back panel steals the show. It’s flat, minimal, and ditching a traditional camera island, Oppo instead went with two huge camera rings that stick out — but with a twist. Each ring has RGB “Breathing Lights” (also called Orbit Lights) that glow for notifications and charging. It’s a cool, futuristic touch you don’t see every day.

At just 173g and 7.5mm slim, the phone is light and pocket-friendly. Its flat edges give off some serious iPhone vibes, but in a more playful and colorful package.

Performance and Features

Powered by the Snapdragon 695 5G, this phone is clearly a mid-ranger. Oppo made some compromises to squeeze in 5G at this price. Unlike its siblings, the Reno7 Lite’s AMOLED display lacks a 90Hz refresh rate, which feels like a miss in 2025.

Cameras are decent for the price — a 64MP main shooter backed by macro and depth lenses, plus a 16MP selfie camera. Video maxes out at 1080p@30fps, so no 4K recording here.

On the software side, it runs ColorOS 12 (Android 11), which feels dated, but Oppo’s custom UI is smooth and packed with features.

Battery and Charging

The 4,500mAh battery easily lasts a full day. The included 33W SUPERVOOC charger can juice up the phone to 31% in just 15 minutes and 100% in about an hour.

However, you’ll want to stick to the bundled charger, as that’s the only way to hit full 33W speeds. With standard PD chargers, you’ll get “fast charging,” but slower than Oppo’s rated speeds.

Verdict

The Oppo Reno7 Lite 5G (or Oppo F21 Pro 5G, depending on where you are) is a stylish mid-range phone with premium design touches like Orbit Lights and a lightweight, slim body. Performance is solid, cameras are serviceable, and charging is fast.

But the lack of a 90Hz refresh rate, dated Android version, and some confusing naming decisions hold it back from being a clear winner.

If you want a fashion-forward phone that stands out in the mid-range segment, this is one worth considering.
