Tata Motors has announced massive price cuts across its entire commercial vehicle lineup, passing on the full benefit of the recent GST 2.0 reduction directly to customers.
Starting September 22, when the new GST rates kick in, Tata’s trucks, buses, vans, and pickups will all get cheaper — with savings ranging from ₹30,000 to a whopping ₹4.65 lakh, depending on the model. The new pricing comes after the GST rate on commercial vehicles was brought down to 18%, making fleet upgrades much more affordable.
Heavy Discounts Across Segments
The biggest cuts will be seen in the heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) segment, where prices drop between ₹2.8 lakh and ₹4.65 lakh. Buses and vans follow closely with reductions of ₹1.2 lakh to ₹4.35 lakh, while intermediate and light commercial vehicles (ILMCVs) will now be ₹1 lakh to ₹3 lakh cheaper.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
- HCVs: ₹2,80,000 – ₹4,65,000
- ILMCVs: ₹1,00,000 – ₹3,00,000
- Buses & Vans: ₹1,20,000 – ₹4,35,000
- SCV Passenger: ₹52,000 – ₹66,000
- SCVs & Pickups: ₹30,000 – ₹1,10,000
Big Boost for Transporters & Small Businesses
Even small commercial vehicles (SCVs) and pickups, widely used by small businesses, will get price cuts of up to ₹1.1 lakh. Tata says this move will lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) for transporters, fleet operators, and SMEs, making it easier to modernize fleets with cleaner and more efficient vehicles.
Tata Motors Reacts
Speaking on the development, Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors, said:
“The reduction in GST on commercial vehicles to 18% is a bold and timely step towards revitalizing India’s transport and logistics backbone. Tata Motors is proud to extend the full benefit of the GST reduction to all our commercial vehicles across the country.”
With these price cuts, Tata Motors aims to further strengthen its position as India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, while giving a major boost to the transport and logistics sector ahead of the festive season.
