GST 2.0 Bonanza: MG Motor Cuts SUV Prices

GST 2.0 Bonanza: MG Motor Cuts SUV Prices by Up to ₹3.04 Lakh – Check New Rates for Astor, Hector and Gloster

Car buyers, here’s some big news! Thanks to the government’s new GST 2.0 reforms, MG Motor India has slashed prices across its popular SUV lineup, passing on the full benefit of reduced taxes to customers. The move applies to all bookings made on or after September 7, 2025.

MG Slashes Prices Across SUV Range

MG currently sells three ICE (internal combustion engine) SUVs in India — Astor, Hector, and Gloster. With the new GST structure, all three have received major price cuts:

  • Astor: Now cheaper by ₹54,000. It was previously taxed at 45% but has been shifted to the 40% slab.
  • Hector: Price down by up to ₹1.49 lakh. Both petrol and diesel variants, earlier taxed at 45% and 50%, now fall under 40%.
  • Gloster: The biggest cut of all — a whopping ₹3.04 lakh. The flagship SUV earlier attracted 50% GST as part of the luxury goods slab, but with that category scrapped, it too now comes under the 40% cap.

Sharing his thoughts on the development, Vinay Raina, Chief Commercial Officer, JSW MG Motor India, said:

“The government’s decision to rationalise GST is a good move that directly addresses affordability. By extending the full benefit across our SUV portfolio, we want customers to experience the immediate value of this change.”

Festive Boost for Car Buyers

With the festive season around the corner, MG expects this bold price cut to strengthen demand. Raina added that the move not only makes MG SUVs more accessible but also reinforces consumer trust and encourages easier ownership.EVs Stay Unchanged

While ICE models got a big price slash, MG’s electric cars remain unaffected. Models like the Comet and Windsor, along with luxury EVs such as the Cyberster and M9 (sold via MG Select dealerships), continue to attract just 5% GST, as per government policy.

Other Automakers Join In

MG isn’t the only brand cutting prices. Since the GST 2.0 announcement, several automakers — including Hyundai, Toyota, Renault, Nissan, Skoda, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi — have all announced significant reductions in their lineups.

With this price slash, MG Motor India is making its SUVs more attractive than ever, and buyers looking to upgrade this festive season might just find the deal they were waiting for.
