OnePlus is gearing up for one of its biggest launches of the year — the OnePlus 15R — set to arrive in India on December 17, alongside the new Pad Go 2. The company has been dropping teasers, and the upcoming phone is already making headlines for packing the largest battery ever seen on a OnePlus device and becoming the first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.
Here’s everything we know so far.
World’s First Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Phone
Just like the flagship OnePlus 15, the new OnePlus 15R will also feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, making it the world’s first device to use this powerful chipset. It will run OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 right out of the box.
The phone is also expected to come with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, indicating strong dust and water protection.
Could Be a Rebranded OnePlus Ace 6T
Rumours suggest the OnePlus 15R might be a global version of the OnePlus Ace 6T recently launched in China. If this turns out to be true, the 15R will likely feature:
- 6.83-inch AMOLED display
- 1.5K resolution
- 165Hz refresh rate
Design-wise, the phone could adopt the refreshed camera island seen on the OnePlus 15. The setup is expected to include a:
- 50MP Sony IMX906 main sensor
- 8MP ultrawide lens
And here’s a major upgrade — OnePlus has confirmed that the 15R will support 4K video recording at 120fps, a feature previously exclusive to its top-end flagship lineup.
Biggest OnePlus Battery Ever
The biggest headline so far is the massive 7,400mAh battery, slightly larger than the one on the OnePlus 15.
OnePlus claims:
- The battery will maintain at least 80% health even after 4 years, thanks to improved durability.
- It will support 80W fast wired charging.
Expected Price & Availability
Although official pricing is still under wraps, the OnePlus 15R is expected to launch around Rs. 45,000. More details are likely to be revealed at the event.
The OnePlus 15R will debut in India alongside the Pad Go 2 and will be available via Amazon.
