Vivo V50e Review

Vivo V50e Review: Stylish Looks, Big Battery, But Is It Really Worth ₹28,999?

Vivo added a new member to its V50 lineup earlier this year with the launch of the Vivo V50e in April, just months after the standard V50 hit the Indian market. While the two share a similar design, the V50e comes with a smaller battery, a different chipset, and a scaled-down camera setup. It does retain the flashy quad-curved display, IP69 rating, and 90W fast charging. But compared to last year’s V40e, the upgrades are pretty minor. The phone starts at ₹28,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB variant — but is it really worth your money? Let’s find out.

Design: Premium Curves, Eye-Catching Finish

At first glance, the Vivo V50e looks a lot like the V50, with the main difference being its new colour options. We tested the Sapphire Blue model, which has a glossy, shimmering wave pattern that reflects light beautifully. Vivo claims each piece is unique, but we only had one unit to check. There’s also a Pearl White option.

The phone has a slim build (7.6mm on Sapphire Blue, 7.39mm on Pearl White) and weighs 186g, making it comfortable to hold. The curved edges add to the in-hand feel. The keyhole-style dual-camera module sits at the back with an Aura ring flash, while the branding is tucked at the bottom. The rear panel and frame are made of glossy polycarbonate.

On the front, you get a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED quad-curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate, slim bezels, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The phone also comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance — a nice bonus.

Performance: Familiar Chip, Mixed Results

The Vivo V50e runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC — the same as last year’s V40e. Paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage, the performance is decent for day-to-day use, but it lags behind rivals like the Poco X7 Pro in benchmarks and gaming.

For regular tasks and light gaming, it runs smoothly. But during long BGMI sessions or burst photography, some stutters do show up. On the positive side, the phone doesn’t overheat much. It ships with Funtouch OS 15 (Android 15) and promises 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches. Vivo also packs in AI features like Image Expander, AI Eraser 2.0, and Photo Enhancer, plus Google Circle to Search and Gemini AI.

Cameras: Decent But Not Standout

Unlike the V50, the V50e doesn’t carry Zeiss branding. Instead, it offers a 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide lens. Up front, you get a 50MP Samsung JN1 selfie camera.

  • Daylight shots are sharp with good detail and colours.
  • The ultrawide performs well in good lighting but shows noise at the edges.
  • Portraits are fine but lack natural colour tones. The Aura light adds some style.
  • Both front and back cameras support 4K video recording at 30fps.
  • Low-light shots from the main camera are decent but noisy, while the ultrawide struggles.

Battery: The Real Highlight

If there’s one area where the V50e shines, it’s battery life. It packs a 5,600mAh battery with 90W fast charging (charger included). In our PCMark test, it lasted a whopping 23 hours 42 minutes. In real-world use, expect 6–7 hours of screen time easily. Charging from 0 to 100% takes about 1 hour 10 minutes.

Speakers are decent but lack depth. Call quality and the in-display fingerprint scanner, however, perform well.

Verdict: Buy or Skip?

The Vivo V50e is stylish, has a fantastic battery, and feels premium thanks to its curved design. But performance isn’t as strong as rivals, and the upgrades over the V40e are minimal.

  • If you already own the V40e, skip this one — there’s not enough new here.
  • If you want the best performance for the price, the Poco X7 Pro is a stronger deal.
  • But if you’re after a first-time buy with premium looks, solid battery, and decent cameras, the V50e is worth considering.

👉 Bottom line: The Vivo V50e is not a bad phone — but in this price range, it’s tough to recommend over better-performing options.
